Argumentative Essay About Memorials

Memorials are made to honor people for what they accomplished in their lives. Memorials aren't just made for anyone though, usually whatever you accomplished has to be recognized by a lot of people as great. Otherwise you are just another soul that once lived. Most memorials aren't made by the person that it is made after has passed, this is because it is a symbol to remember what said person did. There is a much conservancy in memorials today. People questioning is that memorial really represents what he want it to and does the accomplishment that person did really make sense to honor in current time?There are 3 sources that bring up the debate on memorials in to light on current stories.

In Washington D.C there are plans for a holocaust memorial museum to built attached to the Mall there. Many do not like this idea because such a big event in history best honor is too connected to a mall a place not thought of to be a place of honor. Also, there is a point that was said; the museum is not supported by many Jews that America really didn't do anything to stop what was going on in Germany till the very end. In Source E they interview a person that said, "Imagine a Holocaust museum in the town whose political sages refused to lift a finger to halt the Holocaust or open our shores to the few survivors!" (Source E ;Musser).The protester is speaking for many with his same opinion as his, the mall just isn't the place to have this memorial especially in Washington, D.C.Source E undoubtedly points out the placement of a memorial is another important thing to take into mind no matter how massive the event it is honoring
