Marijuana is a great plant, that can be utilized for many purposes. The most useful being a medicine. Marijuana has been legalized in may states for medical use as well as recreational use in some states. In a world of chronic disease and pain, a solution to these issues exists. Many of the prescription drugs out there right now are only temporary fixes that cause more problems in the long run. Medical marijuana has been proven to alleviate many problems that dangerous prescription drugs can fix but without the negative side effects. The negatives of responsible marijuana use are none, while the negatives of responsible prescription drug use are may. Further look at recreational marijuana should be done, because even recreational use of alcohol is a bad thing in certain situations. It does however pose a threat to some. It is not an addictive substance but for some can be habit forming and create a mentally triggered dependency. If we decide that marijuana is ethically right to use as a medicine, another question still looms in the air, do we legalize marijuana for recreational use. Ethically, alcohol, enjoyed in moderation is a socially acceptable thing for adults to consume. Morally for me, alcohol is a bad thing, something that in any amount can have a risk. I do drink socially from time to time but I still see the negative outcomes of drinking. Marijuana should be thought about in the same light. If used responsibly, marijuana as a recreation could work. Our culture is leaning to that decision as we speak. I still have the fear that people will misuse the plant and smoke so much that they become useless to society. That is the one caution. It is of interest to mention that marijuana is a much safer drug than alcohol, and alcohol is much more socially accepted in the United States than
