But as the world around them influences them, they become hellacious. They all had good intentions as they got on the island for a democracy and rules. When Ralph blows the conch all the boys come to a meeting and they vote Ralph leader due to what he wants to do. As time goes on, people show who they really are in the book. Such as Jack who most people, including himself, think he is doing good for everyone, but he is really going insane and becomes a dictator. Even Piggy changed from the beginning the same way Simon did. They become more outgoing towards the end of the book and had the same fate. When Simon tries to tell the boys about the ‘beast’ they kill him, thinking he is the beast, and when Piggy tries to reason with the boys he gets killed by the rock. The last chapter of the book shows the end of innocence of the boys, hence making them their own person and having their own meaning of ‘good.’ When the naval officer shows up on the island the message is hard to catch of what will happen to the boy and what ‘good’ they will do. They will most likely grow up and continue the same way of the
