The fourth lecture also states “The lack of a bridge is not a rights violation so building of a bridge is forcibly taking a persons money against their will and using it to build a bridge. This is called theft.” This is considered theft when taxation for a police system is not because the Bridge isn’t going to protect our rights or us as an individual. It does not pertain to protecting person’s basic or individual rights like a police officer does. It’s important to recognize that not all taxation is theft, but if the taxation is done towards an organization or item that does not protect basic rights, then a libertarian will recognize it as theft.
Theft also occurs in another specific instance as mentioned in the fourth lecture. Libertarians wants the individual rights of each person to be protected, but something it is believed that it’s not the states job to force libertarians to be taxed to help the less fortunate. The fourth lecture says that taxes that go towards material support for the poorer people should not be on the libertarians.
