Pot or Not? Pot or not? This is a debate that has been going on for many years. Many have argued over whether or not to legalize recreational marijuana. Some say that decriminalizing it would be better for the economy. Others say that marijuana is dangerous to the user. Recreational marijuana should not be legalized because marijuana can harm the user, marijuana can be dangerous to others besides the user, and marijuana consumption in adolescents goes up when marijuana becomes legal. Recreational marijuana should not be legal because marijuana can cause harm to the user. The smoke from the marijuana aggravates the lungs. Routine consumers will experience breathing and lung problems like a daily cough and a higher risk for pneumonia and other lung infections from smoking marijuana. When using marijuana, there is a higher risk for mental health problems. Use of the drug has been linked to depression and anxiety (Facts on Drugs: Marijuana).
