JFK Assassination Argumentative Paper There have been four assassinations of US presidents since April 14. 1685. The fourth and most recent one was John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) who was the 35th president of the US, who was assassinated November 22, 1963. The assassination of JFK was unjust because he saved uncountable number of lives, and he emphasized public service. However, people didn’t like him because of his support of the civil rights movement. JFK saved an uncountable number of lives during the short time he was president. He stopped the Cuban Missile Crisis from actually happening. In October 1962 an American U-2 spy plane secretly flew over Cuba and took photos of nuclear missile sites being built by the Soviet Union in Cuba. President Kennedy did not want the Soviet Union and Cuba to know that he had discovered the missiles so he kept the knowledge of this intelligence between very few people. After a lot of meetings, Kennedy decided to place a naval blockade, which is a ring of ships, around Cuba. The blockade was to prevent the Soviets from bringing in more military supplies. He then set up a way to remove the missiles already there and destroy the sites. This is the way JFK setup a plan with the information he was given. Kennedy’s first challenge was when a group of black and white civil rights activists known as the Freedom Riders boarded buses and broke segregation codes by traveling together through racist regions of the South. When the Freedom Riders reached Montgomery they were attacked by the KKK. At this point President Kennedy ordered a group of US Marshals to protect the Freedom Riders. He also called Mrs. King when Dr. King was arrested and also then called the judge to have him released from jail. So these are some of the reasons people like the KKK and other groups would want him not to be involved in Civil
