The most important aspect of the United States is our freedom and we have that freedom because of our veterans and men and women that are active military. Someone who has fought for our country or is still active in the military should not have to worry about if they will be coming home to living on the streets or having somewhere to live. In the articles “Post 9/11 Veterans’ Returning Home; Thousands At Risk Of Poverty, Unemployment:” by PR Newswire and “Ending Veterans’ Homelessness” by The Baltimore Sun both give there input on how the issue of veterans that are homeless can be resolved and what they plan to do. In both of the articles they agree that the community and local businesses are needed to make this all possible. Both articles …show more content…
The article states, “As the largest veteran population in the country, Los Angeles is home to approximately 17 percent (328,000) of California’s Veterans”(Post 9/11 Veterans’ Returning Home; Thousands At Risk Of Poverty, Unemployment:). The area of Los Angeles is home to most veterans in the country and they are often unprepared for civilian life, only have a high school diploma, or do not meet the qualifications for jobs. The article also states that the majority of the veterans are over the age of 50 years old but California has the largest amount of young veterans. A lot of veterans coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan are getting further education to enhance their chances at getting a job. With about 9,000 veterans in the city of Los Angeles United Way, a non-profit group has come up with a plan to decrease the rates in homelessness for veterans and to end it. PR Newswire says, “United Way will identify and unite stake holders in the development of a successful reintegration plan for LA County’s veterans and hold each other accountable for results. Grow the capacity of nonprofit organizations offering employment services to veterans” (Post 9/11 Veterans’ Returning Home; Thousands At Risk Of Poverty, Unemployment:). By doing this it will give veterans a chance to find jobs within the …show more content…
With the help of the community it can help get the issue out to other citizens as well as other communities. Nonprofit groups getting involved is a great way to get federal and local agencies get involved as well because with the help of federal and local agencies there is more funding for the issue and more people will be able to get involved knowing that more then just nonprofit groups are getting involved. As a result, some may not agree with the idea that was stated in the article by The Baltimore Sun and how they had the idea of property owners to list there property and veterans with a housing vouchers can use the voucher. Some may agree with the ideas that the articles have stated and want to get more involved in their community or with a nonprofit group. I think that the more communities and nonprofit groups across the United States know about this issue the more this will not be an issue and cities will have different ways to approach the issue and help

They come back from the warzone and are suddenly trapped in their own thoughts, causing PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), which can be treated but may also cause depression if not treated.…

These methods include: the influence and push of housing programs, to guarantee that these programs will organize a new and stable home for individuals encountering extreme difficulty with homelessness, being able to recognize and connect with individuals encountering unending homelessness and immediately cause difference in their life for the better, to lower boundaries to the housing programs through group wide reception of “Housing First.” Seeking help from congress and looking for extra assets from Congress to make new units of lasting stable homes in essential in this plan. These methods were thought up by The Interagency Working Group on Ending Chronic Homelessness. They have built up a procedure to end homelessness in 2017 by expanding the accessibility of steady homing, and helping groups draw in more homeless individuals to home them easy and quickly. Providing a homeless individual with a shelter yes is helpful, but a group called Community Solutions recognized that giving these individuals a hospitable home with all the essentials to a healthy and comfortable environment created an even bigger impact (People Experiencing Chronic Homelessness).…
