In Joseph E. Stiglitz's essay Rent Seeking and the Making of an Unequal Society, he talks about inequality and how drastic it has become. Inequality in society was made by the people that benefited from it. The inequality level in America isn't normal compared to other countries and even the past in America it is an unnatural inequality. This is very unusual even in a recession, the economy weakens and wages drop which causes the price of goods to drop. But now even with the wage drop, many firms are still making good money.…

No, it is inappropriate for any sitting President to get involved with party politics so far in advance of an upcoming election. In fact, Obama should keep his mouth shut as past Presidents have done, but then Obama is very much anxious to keep his politics and legacy alive through Hillary Clinton, so as I expect, he’s going to be an inappropriate outgoing and past President until the day he…

In this debate, Clinton lost by simply not winning. The trends aren't currently in her favor, and Sanders is gaining in Iowa, where he's starting to be treated like a serious candidate by the press. Her attempts to attack Sanders's support for single-payer health care were widely perceived as backfiring, especially among liberal primary voters who could possibly be tempted to support Clinton out of practicality. She needed a debate in which she could show that Sanders was out of his depth, not someone you could plausibly see actually functioning as president. She didn't do that this time around.…

In the articles “Three Cheers for the Nanny State,” “Ban the Ban!,” and “Soda’s a Problem but…”, all three authors present their arguments with facts, opinions, and counterclaims. However, one article presents itself better than the rest. I believe that the article “Soda’s a Problem, but...” was the most convincing article. Sarah Conly- the author who wrote “Three Cheers for the Nanny State”- argues that the soda restriction is a good idea because people would be stopped from making foolish decisions that they’ll pretty definitely regret.…

Declaring the system is rigged hours after FBI Director James Comey announced that it will not recommend charges against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton over her handling of classified information on her private email server, GOP nominee Donald Trump slammed the FBI's decision during a campaign rally in Raleigh, North Carolina. Journalist and author, Edward McClelland, writer of “RIP, the Middle Class: 1946-2013”, clearly believes that the American middle class is dying and that it should not happen. McClelland states “For the majority of human history—and in the majority of countries today—there have been only two classes: aristocracy and peasantry” (McClelland 550). He asserts that the middle class that flourished following the end of World War II has diminished since America’s first Great Recession in the 1980s and that our federal government is to blame for the decline because it withdrew its supervision of the economy and allowed global free trade (McClelland 550-555). He promotes his idea of the middle class through examples of its prime time when middle class thrived.…

Hungry for Change Why is it that law mandates public school meals have a minimum calorie intake, but not a maximum?
