To start off, Disney has the initial scene of Hercules as a baby very wrong. According to the movie, Hera is Hercules’ mother. To be accurate with the myth, I would change Hercules’ family because he is actually the son of the princess Alcmene and Zeus and is hated by Hera. This would explain why he is not a god, rather than the potion that Pain and Panic give to him to make him mortal.

I think they do this to make the movie more kid friendly however it takes away from Hercules’ greatest feats. Disney does include the Hydra that Hercules kills in myth but it is depicted inaccurately. After Hercules saves Pain and Panic who were disguised as children in distress, Hercules fights a dragon. When he cuts off its head, three more grew back. I would change this portrayal of the Hydra because the Hydra is supposed to be a water dragon and 2 heads are supposed to grow back in the place of one, not 3. I would also add back in the 12 labors.
Then there is the character of Meg who does not exist whatsoever in the real myth of Hercules. In myth, Hercules gets married to Deianara. According to the story the centaur Nessus offers to carry her across the river and tries to kidnap her but Hercules kills him with poisoned arrows. Nessus tells Deianara that his blood will be able to keep Hercules faithful because it is magical when it’s really poisonous. Because Deianara suspects her husband of unfaithfulness she coats his tunic with Nessus’ blood and Hercules is burned by the
