Infringing Civil Rights Does gun control benefit people? The second amendment states, a well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (U.S. Constitution). Meaning people have the right to keep and carry firearms without violating any laws. However, gun control advocates have said we have more guns than people in the U.S. On the contrary, people can use guns for self-defense purposes, aside from that it is known to be a part of many hobbies and sports. Gun control should not be put in place, because it infringes all Americans rights. The opposing side defends by exclaiming the U.S. has an excessive amount of weapons and the more weapons carried

Daniel and D'Souza say that "In the world we live in today, where people drive cars into people, where terrorists are using pressure cookers and vans to kill people, why tell me where I can carry" (5)? To put it differently, the world we live in today is becoming more dangerous day by day you never know when, or where you might have to fight for your life. As Smith explains, "Gun owners say weapons can make society safer by giving people the power of self -defense." The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun…" (9). This statement is insisting that the only way a criminal with a gun can be stopped is by a good Samaritan with a gun. Moreover, domestic violence has become more prevalent over the years. To illustrate, Blake claims that, "There was a story of a young married couple on the block who at times fought so loudly that neighbors had to shut their windows against the clamor. The man was a lout given to beating his wife and to terrifying her with his handgun. One night, during yet another thrashing, she ran to the bedroom, retrieved the gun, and shot him dead. She was acquitted on grounds of self-defense…" (3). To clarify the women had to defend herself with a gun to prevent yet another beating from her husband. For this reason guns are seen as a resourceful tool in self-defense
