Gay marriage, these two words can make people go from being completely civilized, to arguing like crazy. This is a very sensitive topic for many people, and I honestly don't know why it has to be. I am fully supportive of the gay marriage law and rights. I think that through the years we have had this image of what a perfect society is supposed to be like. Trying to make the perfect society has ruined us we no longer accept people for they are, we only accept people that fit our own idea of perfect. I believe that all people should be treated with equality.
I’ve been supportive of gay marriage and equality ever since I was little. Of course I didn’t think much of it, it’s all I’ve ever known. It wasn’t until I was older that I started to hear the discrimination to the gay community. First was the little comments, then the debates on TV, then was the back and forth opinions from my family. My mom and my step dad both support gay marriage, but my father and step mom don’t. The republican party had only grown a little. It has also been shown that women are more supportive in the matte than men. 58% of women are in favor of gay marriage and rights, only 43% of men are in favor of it. Another huge factor of people being in favor of or not, is religion. Almost all of the republican party are christian. Christianity has made a big impact of many decisions. It says in the bible ¨Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination,” Leviticus 18:22.
