Argumentative Essay On Foreign Aid

Foreign aid can be defined as the international transfer of capital, goods, or services from a country or international organization for the benefit of the recipient country or its population. Aid can be economic, military, or emergency humanitarian. (Britannica) There are many different views on whether or not foreign aid in countries with corrupt governments should be provided or withheld; and both with valid reasoning. Many people who are opposed to the aid base their decision off of the fact that the government is corrupt and doesn’t deserve our assistances; the people who need the money most are the ones who aren’t getting it. Many people do actually believe that the aid will ease poverty in poor countries. They believe that the money will eventually help the poverty-stricken countries to slowly make its way out poverty. Individuals also believe that the money given to these poor countries will successfully transform the health of people in poverty. This is actually true to an extent because it has been proven in certain countries. Between 1999 and 2004 Africa was able to reduce the amount of measles deaths by an unheard number; and this was accomplished by using the money that was given by donor countries. (The Telegraph) Another reason why many people support this outlook is because they believe it will personally aid their country. By helping another country, diplomatic relations will form; the country that receives the aid shows will show their thankfulness when the donating country needs it. Most of the time the recipient country will let the donor country set up military camps on their soil in order to show how much they appreciate the donation. I think that a vast amount of people would say it is worth it to give the aid just for the repayment you will get in
