Animal Testing Ranim Habbal “I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That’s is the way of a whole human being.” Abraham Lincoln. Animal testing is a very controversial issue. Fellenz (2005) said that using animals is not a new activity that humans invented lately, but it is an old method ancient people used to do to learn about nature. Further, people used to kill animals for food; therefore, they learned anatomy and physiology.…

The Animal Welfare Act of 1966 still excludes certain animals from having the right to the basic requirements of reducing animal suffering during testing. These animals excluded from this protection include mice, rats and birds. In the United States there are dealers who sell animals that are purpose bred for animal testing. There are two main classes of dealers, class A and class B (Animals Used in Research). In both classes companies must be licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture.…
This article provides an insight on how academic researchers are threatened, bullied, and accused of animal cruelty. It also well evaluates the ideology that there is only a bad and good view on the subject when it comes to the media debating on emotional stances. Exotic Animals, Should They be Privately Owned? The USA Today column (2011) “Today’s Debate” featured two articles “Wild Animals Aren’t Pets” by the editor and “Opposing View: Let People Own Exotic Animals” written by Zazan Kukol to discuss if exotic and wild animals should be kept as (Wyrick 29-32). After objectively analyzing the strengths and weakness of each article, one must consider if exotic animals should be privately owned or banned from private ownership. The argument can be made that exotic animals should not be privately owned for several reasons. People should be banned from owning exotic and wild animals because of the concerns for human safety, inconsistent laws and regulations, and environmental conditions for the animals.…
In this paper, I will be explaining why I believe animal research isn’t morally right, with the help of Philosopher Peter Singer’s viewpoints. I will also present a counter-argument with what Carl Cohen’s point of views are on this topic. I will then reply to Cohen’s argument explaining why and how it fails. Each day there are experiments being done on animals of all kinds in laboratories across the U.S. These poor animals are taken…
“On Eating Animals” Contrary to what omnivores often think, whether or not to eat meat isn't only a matter of taste or personal preference. Due to its many implications spreading concerns of well being for humans, animals, and the environment it is, at its center, a question of ethics. In the article, “On Eating Animals” they work to defend, honor, and clean up the processes by which farm animals are raised to eat and eventually kill. The purpose of this essay is to undermine a general belief. This essay sets out an argument that purports to show, as well as any argument in ethics can show, that eating animals is a current ongoing controversy.…
My view on the topic after my research When I originally started this project my initial standpoint was that all forms of animal captivity are wrong. I still stand by this in terms of SeaWorld, circus animals and wildlife parks that simply do not care about the animal’s welfare but what has really changed my mind on the topic is UK Zoos. From communicating with Flamingo Land, Blackpool Zoo and Belfast Zoo, it seems like they all have one common goal in mind; conservation and making sure the animals are fit, healthy and meet with the standards of BIAZA. I feel it is important to protect our wildlife from poachers and extinction and if this means captivity and breading for some time I think it is the lesser of two evils to continue doing so in the right conditions. It is encouraging to know that our county…
