As Hillary Clinton once said, “Voting is the most precious right of every citizen, and we have a moral obligation to ensure the integrity of our voting process.” (Qtd, in Brainy Quote) We have that right in the United States to vote, which every person has an equal voice in electing those people who serve in our government. Every four years, during the month of November, many U.S. citizens go to polls to vote for a new president and vice president for the United States. Is it true? Not really. Instead, now they use a complicated mechanism known as the Electoral College. If we ask somebody a question over Electoral College, they might say it is a place, but it is not. Electoral College is a process consisting of the selection of the electors, where then the electors vote for the president and vice president. Will in almost every recent election there has probability been a relatively credible scenario for an outcome. It might seem that a tie had never happen during a presidential election, but the only tie that happen in the history was in 1800. (Eric Black, 2012) We might think that it was probably because they used formal tickets, and that there were some states that did not even hold a popular vote. In a soccer, game if, there is a tie it can easily be determine who the winner is by penalty shootout, but in a presidential tie it can be bizarre and scary. The 1800 election, Thomas Jefferson tied with his own running mate Aaron Burr. (Eric Black, 2012) We know now days there is technology that can help humankind, but there is a possibility that in years to come we might have a tie.
