Early Childhood Education – Argumentative Essay Early childhood is the most rapid period of development for human cognitive response. It is said that brain is like a sponge within the first 2000 days of life. With that in mind, regarding early-childhood education, the government, teachers, and especially parents need to be able to discern children’s behavior and development, as well act accordingly for later life success. It was presented on the belief that quality early-childhood education could benefit disadvantaged, impoverished children against the qualms of home and neighborhood life. It was designed to be a “cost-effective” measure in alleviating the pressure put on future social service endeavors, as well as the ever growing justice system. In the growing years to come, the effectiveness of this program started to dwindle with many new studies suggesting the failures of the Head Start Program. Department of Health and Human Services had commissioned a study to evaluate Head Start’s effectiveness. The study conducted found that though the program presented positive impact on children’s experiences through Pre-K, the advantages children gained during their head start yielded only a few statistic differences in the outcome following first grade. This put students who participated in the Head Start program within the same pitching field as those who received the same if not less educational practice in their early years of life. The study was later updated in 2012 which stated the very same thing, but now Head Start students were completely indistinguishable from a the control group of students who had not attended. It was becoming apparently that the billions of dollars split up to make this program possible were being unregulated or unwisely distributed.
