Driverless cars is a big step into the future but are we really ready for it? Driverless cars are cars which don't need to be driven, they basically drive on there own. These cars have gps and sensors which will stop before hitting a car or causing a accident. The technology in these cars still need to become more advanced for it can be more helpful keeping the roads and the people inside safe. With driverless cars there are still safety issues, maps need to more detailed and be updated constantly,and due to all the technologies and advancements it is prone to getting hacked. If not perfected the technology in the cars can create a serious problem. Huge improvements must be made before they can safely handle the streets. Driverless cars rely on pre-programmed maps/routing data which means that if there is a temporary traffic light or a detour they wouldn't be able to obey or follow through. These cars have sensors which will guide the car and sense things for dangers or things that are harmful,these sensors can mistake animals for things such as trash and swerve out of its way. In phones,tablets,laptops and other devices software are not really designed to operate functionally over a long period of time without crashing or freezing, this would be really deadly if the software in a car isn't optimized to be long lasting without problems. …show more content…
Due to the fact that it is a hands-free,drivers will have more freedom to do whatever they wish while inside the car including reading, texting, eating,and etc. Since the car is supposed to use laser range and radars to analyze its surroundings, it will be able to automatically avoid potential accidents which will make it safer than if it were the normal way of driving.
