America has the highest motor vehicle accident rates than any other high income country. Nearly 1.3 million people die in car accidents every year and there are about 3,287 die in crashes that happen each day in America, according to asirt.org. Car crashes happen for many reasons; distracted because of texting, on the phone while driving or loud music, intoxicated driving, drowsy, and while this is not as likely, cars have technical difficulties that the driver cannot control. With new technology, engineers are taking the world by storm. Driver-less cars or self driving cars are what engineers have been working on to make driving safer. While this is a sad case this is true. This world especially America relies on death to profit money. Fatal car accidents are a tragedy but in the long run help people who need organs. Not saying that driver-less cars are not beneficial to the world, but large advances come with consequences and may not be fixable. On the other hand, because these things cannot be proven yet, they have many predictions about how driver-less cars are beneficial to health systems. On the article… they state, “Disabled individuals, who have to rely on public transportation or assistance from others to get around, could reap the benefits of self-driving cars with new freedom and enhanced mobility, as suggested by the New York Times” Driver-less cars may be beneficial to people to people who have a hard time getting around by themselves, disabled people would be able to take themselves back and forth from doctor appointments and like the quote said, give them freedom that they never had the opportunity to have. In addition, they stated that another pro was that “Over time, higher speed limits might be considered as an option if more people are using self-driving cars. Since the computers calculate operation of the vehicle safely, driving time could be reduced by faster speeds allowed on the road.” This will get people where they need to be quicker.
