Crime and guns. The two seem to be almost identical but are they really partners in crime? Does the use of guns almost inevitably wind up being used for a criminal activity? And if that is the case will simply creating laws to prevent the consumption of firearms really calm the storm or make the flames spread ? these are very controversial questions derived form a even more controversial topic in the ever lasting debate on gun control .But this topic is nothing new since 1924,Presidential Candidate, Robert La Follete said, (www.ncjrs.gov)“our choice is not merely to support or oppose gun control but to decide who can own which guns under what conditions.” Inevitably this debate still goes on today and is the very reason for the formation gun …show more content…
There are a great deal of people that think assault weapons should be banned, solely on the believe that the firearm has an increased risk of being used for mass shooting, Or because they are the same as a machine gun. Opposed to the believes of many they are not. The assault weapons that are available to the public are semi automatic an only fire one shot per pull of the trigger. Assault weapons are not more powerful, they do not shoot more bullets, nor do they have a increased rate of fire. People are Often mistaken and lead to believe its worse then ever but in reality its better then its been in years. A big factor that people do not consider when talking about gun-related deaths is suicides, and actually most of the gun related death are suicides. There are twice as many suicides on America from by guns as there are homicides. “30,000”people have been killed with guns, but what is not said is that “20,000” of those kills have been by their own hands, and not from those of a murderer. A common question is, will the use of gun control laws really effect the rate of crime ,deter it ,or will it just be a waste of time money, and efforts ? looking at it From the statistical stand point you would ay of course it would . And one reason is a elementary school in newton called sandy hook elementary was a victim of mass shooting. Reportedly a heavily equipped man with a assault rifle and a hand gun walked into the school and killed over 26 people including 20 children before returning fire upon himself.
