Because Common Core sets what a student should know at the end of the year, “the curriculum forces students to learn at a faster pace than ever before” (Thought.co). As this strategy is used over a longer period of time, a learning gap begins to build on the student’s knowledge, and that gap will never be filled. Students then feel completely unprepared for the future of their education, and they begin to worry that their intelligence is inadequate. Essentially making kids feel worse about their level of education and ignoring it, a terrible strategy of teaching students. Worst of all, “Common Core has violated the right that parents have a say in their child’s education” (tfpstudentaction.org). Parents can only watch their child struggle now because Common Core prohibits them to argue. Further, the curriculum is so diverse, that parents can only afford to argue because the majority will not understand their child’s homework. The style of teaching that Common Core has brought, is drastically different than the ones that our elders have experienced.
