College can cost over 60,000 dollars a year, but it does not have to. Many people feel that college is not worth it due to the high cost or the high rate of unemployment. A person may get a degree, but end up in debt for life and also lose their job. However, not only are there are ways to cut cost on college, making it more worth someone’s while, but a college degree could help boost your salary. College can seem expensive at first, but it is beneficial to the future of college graduates in the workforce because it allows them to grow as a person and master the skills they will use in the future. A single glimpse at a college tuition can paralyze anyone with fear and uncertainty, but with the help of FAFSA and scholarships, a person can deplete the size of tuition by over half. A shop teacher says that schools “create artificial learning environments...that [children] know to be contrived and undeserving of their full attention and engagement. Without the opportunity to learn through the hands, the world remains abstract and distant, and the passions for learning will not be engaged”(Source A). These people believe that going to college would only be beneficial in the future to those who are more academically inclined. However, recent studies show that a college degree is gives a graduate an advantage where a degree is not essential. “Construction workers, officers, plumbers, retail salesperson, and secretaries, among other, make significantly more with a degree than without one” (Source D). Acquiring a college education can aid a person in opening a business, get a higher paying job at a company, or do work that requires more skill.
