If you have an extremely overprotective family like I do then even your parents will demand to have your roommate’s number. This decision is logical in case of emergencies like locking yourself out of the dorm, needing toilet paper, or if you live in suit style being locked out of your own bathroom. Text message, after social media, becomes the most dominated genre used among college roommates. Being that we are habitually and ridiculously attached to our cell phone, a text is the fastest and most efficient way to communicate with your roommate. The community I current belong to follows this logic when communicating between themselves and with others. The community of college roommates communicates with one another using technology of our everyday lives. We use our laptops, cell phones, tablets, etc. to use social media, text, create schedules, and flyers in order to communicate with one another. As a college roommate I can honestly say that communication is impersonal and distant, especially in difficult situation. Even though we are less likely to put a pen to paper or actually talk to each other, my community still uses basic modes and genres communicate in a way that works for
