If the budget bill passes, congressmen and women would be sending a statement to the world that climate change research is unimportant and unnecessary. In this essay, I will be arguing the importance of climate change research by explaining its consequences on human health which includes increasing death from extreme heat, increasing injury and illness from floods, and increasing risk of foodborne illness. Rather than using general assumptions, I will be using scientific articles to reveal how climate change can harm our lives. I believe by funding organizations to study the effects of climate change on human health and the environment, solutions and policies can be developed to lessen the burden of disease caused by climate change.
