In New Hampshire, every non-commercial vehicle is required to have a license plate that has a state motto called, “Live Free or Die.” The respondent, George Maynard who was a Jehovah’s Witness, viewed the motto to be non-religious. In the book the war on Christmas, Gibson’s claim is that the liberals are attacking Christianity by violating the first amendment and using it against the Christians by waging war on Christmas. This is stating that all Christmas is bad because it’s related to Christianity which is a universal affirmative proposition. It’s stating that Christmas is bad, Christianity is related to Christmas, therefore Christianity is bad. In the reading Gibson states that, “… Christmas trees, Santa Claus, treetop stars, wreaths” (Gibson, 2005, p. XVIII). The liberals that want to get rid of Christmas aren’t interested in the old traditional Christmas values and ways that we have all grown up with they want to move past that day and age.…

Donnelly, Lynch, like Winnit wanted to put up a Christmas display located in the city's shopping district. The creche had been included in the display for over 40 years. The Supreme Court decided that there is no violations of free exercise and the Supreme Court held that the symbols posed no danger of establishing a state church. Therefore, leaving both statues up would not violate freedom of exercise, but if they allow one statue they will have to anyone to put up a statue.…

Roadside memorials are notably everywhere on the streets and highways of Hawaii, where accidents have occurred unexpectedly. In The New York Times, Robert Tiernan observes that roadside memorials use public property for private purposes. He believes they violate the constitutional principle of separation of church and state because public facilities are being used to promote religion. He concludes they are a distraction and danger to the motoring public. Though Tiernan makes a sensible point, Sylvia Grider - a professor at Texas A&M University, states “Many people regard roadside memorial crosses as sacred, but not necessarily religious” (Grider, emphasis in original).…

The two kingdoms are distinct, but they are not at variance. Though different, Christians have an obligation to proclaim the gospel and to proclaim earthly freedom from injustice. Christians need not choose between the two kingdoms, but rather they carry out their responsibilities in both in clear ways through clear means. (Horton, 2008). Gaddy makes the argument that separation of church and state keeps politics out of the church and prevents either from being “used for the advancement of narrow sectarian or political goals.”…

Thank you for considering this matter. -April…
