“Calpurnia was in her stiffest starched apron… I admired the ease and grace with which she handled heavy loads of dainty things. So did Aunt Alexandra, I guess, because she had let Calpurnia serve today.” (Lee 260). Interestingly, I noticed how Aunt Alexandra is probably much stricter with Calpurnia than Atticus and the children, who treat her almost like family. This seems to rub off on the more poised manner Calpurnia has around Aunt Alexandra, perhaps because she’s afraid of what she might do if Calpurnia acts “at home”.
