Research done on rats an monkeys, for example, has helped us to better understand PTSD, and it is because of this better understanding that scientists have been able to develop medications to help people who suffer from PTSD cope with aspects of the disorder. Animal research has also been significant in understanding and helping to treat Parkinson’s disease. It was because of the research done on rabbits and mice that scientists discovered that Parkinson’s affects dopamine levels in the brain. Animal research is still important today when studying current diseases and disorders.…

A possible concern is that over 100 million animals- mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds- are used for research and experiments each year. These animals are forced to test poisoning for burning skin, toxicity testing, causing brain damage, and many other horrible tests. The innocent creatures are harmed and sometimes killed in the process. On the other hand, scientists are doing these many different types of tests to learn more about health problems that affect both humans and animals. Since animals are biologically related to humans, it makes them good research subjects.…

When animals are used in medical research, it is great way to uncover the mysteries and find treatments or even cures for various diseases. For example, in Shany Sun’s Young Scientists Journal article, “The Truth Behind Animal Testing,” the author says, “…medical advancements that have been discovered through animal testing include penicillin, blood transfusions, insulin (that controls blood sugar levels of diabetics), kidney transplants, and vaccines for polio and meningitis” (Sun 1). This example shows just how beneficial animal testing in medical research can be. These medical advancements would not have been available for years if animal testing had not…

Now days, society can volunteer themselves in clinical drug research for a monetary exchange. With modern science “we can see inside peoples’ brains using imaging machines or test microscopic amounts of new drugs harmlessly on volunteers.” (BUAV.org the campaign to end animal experiments, pg 7) Humans are more willing to volunteer themselves for the money, but also because strict health and safety precautions are put in place for their well-being at all times during the study. Humans can also communicate their side effects and pain occurrence which provides sound and optimal results for future modifications and or dosages. Unfortunately, animals cannot communicate these important factors, which in turn is useless.…

However, diseases such as smallpox, Polio, tuberculosis, and meningitis are not nearly as common as they were in previous times. Diseases that were thought to be incurable such as cancer and AIDS are slowly becoming vulnerable to new medicine that is being tested.…

If we didn 't do animal testing trillions of animals would have died already from many unknown diseases. But by doing animals testing we are saving ourselves and the animals. By testing the animals we could acknowledge them and see what diseases they have and offer an antidote to kill the diseases and making the animals live a long fruitful life. We the people have saved endangered species and put them in habitats where they can reproduce successfully.…
