Argumentative Essay On Animal Cloning

Imagine that you try all your life trying to succeed at something, but it almost always fails. That’s animal cloning. 95% of animal cloning attempts fail. If you don’t know how to think about this then think of this a massive slaughter of animals because they use so many animals as surrogate mothers. All this time they’ve been trying to succeed, but it only happens 5% of the time. What happens to the surrogate mothers where the cloning process failed. Either they are severely injured or they go to heaven. My reasons that animal cloning is not beneficial are Surrogate mother suffer/die, Moral and Ethical Dilemma, and finally Expensive Process.
First off, animal cloning isn’t beneficial because it makes surrogate mothers suffer. According to “14 advantages and disadvantages of Animal Cloning,” compared to regular births for animals cloned embryos tend to be large and can result in a painful birth. So imagine a regular animal at the age of 3 or 4 that’s what animal surrogate mothers are giving birth to. Secondly, compared to normal mothers giving birth surrogate mothers have a higher death rate because of the cloning process. Imagine that you were just born and you were a clone and a moment later you see your

According to “ Matthew Herper,” All the equipment for being able to clone and research cloning is very costly. For instance, cloning a cow costs $20,000 a house cat costs more than that maybe because house cats cost $32,000 mainly because the house cats are cloned privately. What’s the point of cloning your housecat that already died peacefully would you want to watch your loving house cat die again or would you rather let your house cat live in peace. And to clone this cat you’d have to have a surrogate mother that was the same breed or close to the same cat as the one you’re trying to clone. Even cloning a horse is interesting on why they want to clone that and who has the money for that to clone a horse costs

In the article “Ethical Issues of Cloning” by Rita Putatunda explains about the problems of cloning. Copying the genes and making new reproductions of the human is equivalent to “playing God”. The successful cloning of Dolly (Sheep) in 1997 brings many tension upon society and furthers the possibility of human cloning. However, there is a high failure rate of cloning and it may alter the genes of the cloned animal/human. Putatunda questions that the cloning outcome might act as a unique individual or have to live like a genetic prisoner.…

Cloning is a cell, cell product, or organism that is genetically identical to the unit or individual it is derived from. During the process of cloning, a piece of DNA is cut from its source with a restriction enzyme. Then, the DNA is put into a vector ( a DNA molecule used to transport genetic material into another cell). The vector is introduced to a host cell by the process called transformation, then the host cell copies the vector DNA with the original DNA; creating copies of the inserted DNA. After the DNA is done copying, it is then removed from the host cell and purified cell.…

Now scientists have used this process of somatic cell nuclear transfer to create clones of nearly 20 different species of animals Scientists do not see a reason to clone humans Instead they plan to use this knowledge to further their studies in stem cell therapy, for example they would use a patient's cells to create an embryo and then they could see how that patient's disease will affect them over time by comparing it to the embryo Dolly lived her entire life at the Roslin Institute until she was put down She had been battling with arthritis and eventually was diagnosed with lung disease Since Dolly was put down at age six and the average life span of her breed is 10-11 years this validated many people’s fears that clones would not live as long as humans Dolly also had four other “sisters” who suffered very similar fates that she did However the Roslin institute is nowhere near done studying this process, in fact they are still in the process of examining the organs and tissue to understand how these animals age Currently Dolly the sheep is on display at the National Museum of…

There is another way in which this case was seen as beneficial, however it is perceived as slightly minor in regards to the other benefits. This application of cloning does not relate to dogs only, but to all animals which can be considered to be pets. Many who have mourned the loss of a pet have ‘brought it back to life’ through reproductive cloning. While this may seem a little extreme, this scientific breakthrough has made it possible for these pet owners to feel connected to their deceased pets once again. Cloning therefore has many merits and can prove to be utilitarian…

They could also turn out to be unfounded. Lastly, they could get heart and lung defects. Scientists should stop cloning animals because they could possibly give the animal defects. If an endangered species is being cloned, the scientists might think it will save the animals, but it can also give them organ defects. Another thing is that animal clones age faster.…

When cloning people think that their pet might live longer than it did before it died but, what if I told you they are wrong. Yes, they are wrong because the clones are most likely to have a health problem. If you think cloning is cheap then guess again it very expensive. The minimum cost is $100,000 dollars. With that kind of money…

In 1996, the world had its first glimpse of a cloned animal in the form of Dolly the sheep. With that came much shock, not only in the scientific community but in the people of the world, because more and more people became interested with the notion of cloning. A big part in all of this was played by Dolly not just because it was a successful clone but because it opened up the world’s eyes on cloning (Aldridge par.3). But cloning is not just something where a person pops out of nowhere it is actually harder because scientist have to either get a stem cell from the host or either get the DNA from an animal and have the animal grow inside a closely related animal. Now more than ever, people have a great mind set on the ways they could help…

Cloning prevents sheltered pets from having a home. There are around 7.6 million companion animals living in shelters( source:APPA).So as you can see there are enough animals for you to just replace that pet with a new one instead of trying to clone it. But to be more precise there are 3.9 million dogs and 1.4 million cats Cloning animals have many major…

Simon Smith stated, “Theories exist about how cloning may lead to a cure for heart attacks, a revolution in cosmetic surgery, organs for organ transplantation, and predictions abound about how cloning technology will save thousands of lives.” Therapeutic cloning will bring medical breakthroughs that we’ve never had before. Many adults aren’t able to have children and cloning will give them another option of having their own child. Also, cloning will be able to save animals from extinction and possibly bring back animals that are extinct.…

When people lost their pets or children, they would like to find a way to remember the loss. Therefore, the reproductive cloning could help those people by creating a clone. I start to understand more about reproductive cloning and its pros and cons. Although, this information does not completely answer my question, it provides information about banning reproductive cloning in Canada. I am curious about the reason of banning such helpful technology in…

In the article Bringing Them Back to Life by Carl Zimmer, scientists are debating on whether they should bring back extinct animals or not. Some say that it would be cool to actually “de-extinct” an animal, but is it really worth the time and money to do so? Cloning can involve several different processes such as injecting nuclei into other animal cells, restructuring genomes and reprogramming cells. Bringing back or cloning animals from the past would be great scientific achievement but then again the past is the past and should maybe left that way. There is great debate of de-extinction; the pros of scientific advancement and preservation or the cons of playing God and wasting money.…

Many do not realize that cloning often occurs naturally such in the case of twins and in some plants and animals such as the whiptail lizard that lay eggs without mating making all of the offspring are clones of their mother (Nicholson 2001). Another reason cloning should not be allowed is because the cloning process could cause severe pain and suffering to humans and animals. Cloning is a dangerous, and agonizing process. Despite years of endless research, approximately 95% of cloning attempts fail, leading to many unnecessary deaths in humans and animals. Even the clone could receive severe problems such as physiological impairments, severe birth defects, and an abrupt death. If cloning is practiced largely, many test subjects will die,…

Animals are being cloned at a faster rate than ever, but is it really okay? People cloning pets has become a more common thing, and with better technology, more people are doing it, but how safe is it? Cloning comes with costs and doesn’t always work. I think pets should not be cloned because it cost too much to clone, they might come out with health problem, and not everyone agrees with it ethically.…
