Also, it helps with breaking up theory from real life. There is a theory that this culture eats this or acts certain ways and the theory may be based on outdated day and time of the country. Say someone from another country was convinced that American men that are trouble wear leather jackets, ride motorcycles, and good girls wear poodle skirts. Ireland has just been the one that is most fascinating to me. However, I have watched videos that give me clarity around cultures in other countries, as well. A video about Australia told me that Outback has very little to do with Australian food, even as tasty as it can be to them. Also, I have learned that in Japan when you are ready to order at a restaurant you just yell at your waiter to let him know you are ready for him to come back to the table. The last international video that I can tell you about is a video on YouTube that was made in England that interviewed several people to discuss how they felt about Americans. There was many of them that think we are arrogant, some that think we are friendly.
There are some countries that prohibit some uses of social media or even ban social media completely. In these cases, it is unlikely that we will have access to learn more about them than what is available through our media in America.
