Argumentative Essay: Kelly Sandler's Controversy

For the past couple of days White House aide, Kelly Sandler, has been under fire for her comment that was leaked during a closed meeting regarding Senator John McCain’s cancer and many demand an apology while others stress the importance of confidentiality in the White House. During a closed meeting on Thursday, a White House leak informed that Sandler had made a joke about John McCain’s opposition of Gina Haspel stating that he was dying anyway. The McCain family, other politicians, and citizens grow concern over whether or not Sandler should publicly apologize because of her comments and possibly face repercussions. Cindy McCain and her daughter Meghan McCain have both shared their thoughts over the mockery of Senator McCain’s health on media …show more content…
Throughout the article, many comments on Sandler’s remark were mentioned such as Meghan McCain’s. They used a more pathological approach revealing the McCain family’s offense to the statement, thus leading to the conclusion through persuasion that perhap Sandler should publicly apologize. On the contrary, they revealed the response from the deputy press secretary mentioning that punishing Sandler for her mockery would restrict people from allowing to speak their mind. This led to ethical questioning because citizens fall under the protection to freedom of speech in the first amendment. CNN’s article did not incorporate statements from press secretary Sarah Sanders compared to other news sources, nor did include why Sandler would make such joke. In addition, the article mentioned Fox News disregarding the situation, and focusing more about the leak itself than the weight of Sandler’s words. Overall CNN, focused the article towards the emotions of the those who were affected. Ultimately, this far left news source implies that Sandler should indeed publicly apologize to the McCain family because of the various people that were impacted by Sandler’s
