Businesses such as Maybelline, Lysol, Clorox, Dove, and many more still test on animals and treat them inhumanely. There are many companies that offer products that are not tested on animals but those products are usually more expensive because the technology they used was pricy. In 1985 the legislature had passed the improved standards for laboratory animals act but that didn’t stick. Throught time there have been hundreds of attempts by animal rights activists to stop animal experimentation completely but none have stuck. The punishment that is being enforced in Michigan is not severe enough to make people think twice about their actions. The maximum penalty that can be put onto someone who has done an animal wrong is either 4 years of imprisonment or a fine of $5,000. Four years of imprisonment can be turned into two if they show good behavior during imprisonment or if they have a great lawyer to talk a judge down. Yes our legal system has improved greatly through time but we still face lawyers that find loopholes and tricks that are able to get around the
