Argumentative Essay: Is Killing Another Justifiable?

Improved Essays
Is killing another justifiable? A question that is wondered around the globe. Some say yes and some say no. Many believe yes because say if you have a sick relative or a sibling or a parent that is very sick and they have stage 4 terminal cancer. They would have to go through a lot of pain and therapy and in the end die anyway because of their disease and it would cause them and you less pain. Killing another is a justifiable statement such as euthanasia, assisted suicide, and the case of george and lennie.

For example an article called belgian twins legally euthanized. Identical twins born late last year with deaf, and spinal issues, and diagnosed with upcoming blindness. So their parent decided to end their children's life so they didn't have to suffer through and other life troubles that would soon lead to death.(gross) Euthanasia is important because if someone is terminally ill or has multiple problems that are gonna make life harder and their just gonna die eventually then why make them suffer? I agree with what these parents did because that means their children didn't have to suffer and they didn't have to see them suffer .

Many are for assisted suicide but some aren't. In 2012 barack obama agreed with an assisted suicide because he believe that person was suffering very badly and need to end their suffering. This evidence proves that assisted suicide is a good thing if the patient is terminally ill.(aaron) I agree with this statement because anyone that's going to die anyway no matter what is just suffering then they should be able to end their suffering because if you're terminally ill you aren't going to want to sit their and wait till you die just sit there and suffer. You're gonna wanna

Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old New York resident who suffered with a chronic brain tumor, was denied the process of euthanasia. Her story ignited the fuse to the debate over euthanasia rights and inspired organizations like Compassion & Choices to be more involved in this area of medicine. This particular non-profit organization advocates that patients should possess the right to decide how they want to live out the end of their life. After enduring the burden of her illness, Maynard decided she no longer wanted to remain on medical support and legally chose the solution of active euthanasia, with doctor supervision, surrounded by friends and family.…

The person no longer enjoys living their life which is why they should be able to undergo assisted suicide. Also, Ezekiel Emanuel from the gale database says, ” It would also provide psychological comfort reassurance to millions of other Americans, who would know that if things got really bad, they could end their lives.” Patients that are no longer enjoying life should have the ability to end their life which will end their pain and suffering. The quality of life of a patient should justify their decision to have a physicians assisted…

Supporters of physician assisted suicide believe that it should be legalized for a variety of reasons. “Terminally ill adults with six months or less to live should be allowed to receive a prescription for life-ending medication (Election 2012, Northridge).” Those who are terminal patients (or who are going to die soon) should not go through excruciating suffering, and should be allowed to end it. Legalizing physician-assisted suicide would allow patients to receive their own dignity during their final days of life. According to its supporters, physician assisted suicide allows for the “Pain and anguish of the patient's family and friends (to be) lessened, and they can say their final goodbyes (Election 2012, Northridge).”…

For as many people there are against euthanasia, there are numerous people for the assisted suicide. Death is inevitable, and if a person wants to die it is their right. Desiring death is a self-inflicting issue; therefore the state should not intervene on how a person should manage himself or herself. People endure some painful times and just want to give up due to the excruciating pain, for instance in the Assisted Suicide Documentary, a woman, Cindy Cowwen has late stage Ovarian cancer. Ms.Cowwen feels she should have the choice on how she ends her life.…

One of the most widely debated ethical issues throughout the country is the right to die with the assistance of physicians. Out of the fifty states in the United States, only five states have legalized physician-assisted suicide. There are specific requirements that allow an individual to possess this right. The question still stands as to whether or not the right to die is morally right or morally wrong. Oregon, Vermont, California, and Washington are four out of the five states that have mandated state laws regarding physician-assisted suicide.…

Medically assisted suicide is an argument that has been highly debated for a long time and is still being debated today. Medically assisted suicide gives doctors the ability to help terminally ill patients die who are not going to get better. I believe that medically assisted suicide should be an option for terminally assisted patients. This is because it prevents future pain and suffering, stops unnecessary and expensive treatments, and gives dignity and purpose to a patient's death. One of the reasons why I support medically assisted suicide is because it prevents future pain and suffering that only makes a patient’s life harder.…

We are being inhumane to force people to continue suffering in this way (Newman, 1996). Choosing for a more painless death comes a lot easier for patients along with family who witness the pain of their loved is enduring with all the medications and treatments (which tend to cause severe side effects). I believe that is justified. Especially knowing that the chances of survival are very slim for the patient. Supports of the mercy killing ask whether it is rational or not to keep a terminally ill patient who’s hopes of survival are slim and alive on a support system when our medical infrastructure is under immense pressure (Naik, 2011).…

Physician assisted suicide goes against many people’s religions and beliefs, but it also follows many others values. In today’s society every opposition is argued upon because it goes against someone’s thoughts. Society is not perfect but can be perfected. If physician assisted suicide was legalized it would be argued about constantly and be uplifted constantly at the same time. The United States is about freedom, and legalized physician assisted suicide would only further express that…

Does Killing Someone Have Any Morality Behind It? Have you ever wondered what the underlying causes of police brutality are? Pondered over the thought of why law enforcement has swayed so far from their traditional duties? I’ve wondered all of these, especially in the case between Michael Slager and Walter Scott. In this case, Scott was pulled over by Slager for having a broken brake light.…

The way I see the laws legalizing assisted suicide are mostly infracted by religious organizations and money just like everything else in the world. In 1999 California legislative was faced with passing a bill that would allow legal assisted suicide. This was fought by a group called the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF). The law going to be passed would allow euthanasia to be used in medical practice.…

Is it okay to take the life of another, but only if they are in agonizing pain and terminally ill to quickly end the pain or is it better to let them die after days, weeks, months, even years of torture? What dignifies whether or not assisted suicide is right or wrong, the morals of humanity, or the laws set by religious community? It can’t be at all kind to let close relatives and even strangers live through the most terrible pain imaginable, while we sit and watch, not truly aware of the pain. Many believe taking another’s life away is the same as murder, when all in all it is what the person really wanted. Some may want to live and fight through the pain for their family’s sake, but other aren’t as strong and want a fast way out, and want to take that route, with or without their family’s consent.…

It tends to be a few more who are for legalizing it, than those who are against it. All in all, most people think of the pain someone is in, so they should be allowed to do whatever they please. Two thirds of 600 physicians think PAS is acceptable (Lee). Last year, one hundred and fifty six patients requested physician assisted suicide and thirty eight ended up dying from the physician (Lee). This tends to be very secretive because it is illegal in most places.…
