Argumentative Essay: Is It Captive For Animals?

Decent Essays
People say animal captive is dangerous to the animal. People say zoos are better for animals because it keeps the population of that animal up that way it doesn’t go extinct, but i think the animals should be the wild unless they are tameable animals like dogs, cats, and horses. When the animals are in the zoos they can get small area to climb, fly, swim, roam, or run. If the animals in the zoos were in the wild they can mate, find food, or find water on their own. I have three reasons, why it is important for the animals to run wild, people cutting down trees in the wild, and when they are confined it has a negative impact on their behavior and health.

One of the main reason is why it important for the animals the roan wild. When the animals are in the wild they can mate. Mating is important because mating make baby animal, so being in the wild the momma animal can roam far to find the right father animal. When the animals are in zoos they are forced to mate with a animal that they more than likely don't like. Another thing is food. When in the wild animals they hunt for their own food and they can eat what they want, but when they are in the zoos they can only eat what the zookeepers give them. The last thing is getting water whenever they want and if they run out they can roam to a new water source, but if they are i n the zoos they can't go to a new source they have to wait until the zookeeper gives them water.

In the article “The Impact of Animal Protection” it says, “People have also cut down trees for lumber, which have destroyed the homes of animals living in those trees”. Us people have cut down trees that millions of animals live in that don't have homes now. People say the trees are need to make supplies the paper, but i say we can go to a forest that doesn't have animals in it because there are thousands of forests in the United States. With that be said not all trees need to be cut

Imagine a young helpless animal being taken from its home in the wildlife and held in captivity, behind bars and gates, held a prisoner to the world. Each year, thousands of animals are ripped away from their homes and their families and are used for entertainment. Zoos are a popular attraction for kids and adults; it gives people the opportunity to get up close and personal with some their favorite animals. Zoos even allow people to feed and pet the animals, which make zoos very well-liked and enjoyable amongst all the animals’ lovers. What people tend to overlook when visiting these zoos is all the nutritional and emotional deprivation the animals go through each day, nor does anyone know the animal cruelty that goes on when the zoos are closed.…

Zoos protect animals from these dangers and can help reintroduce endangered species back into the wild. “Quite simply without these efforts there would be fewer species alive today and ecosystems and the world as a whole would be poorer for it.” (Source D). These conservation efforts are important to the environment as the extinction of one species could devastate an entire ecosystem. Zoos are able to take care of animals much better than these animals can on their own.…

Humans argue that animals are not capable of grasping moral concepts, such as rights. However, humans are animals that do have rights. People have fought and continue to fight to give a voice to animals. “We are a predator of predators,” said the study’s lead author, Chris Darimont, Hakai-Raincoast professor at the University of Victoria in British Columbia and science director for the Raincoast Conservation Foundation,” reported by EcoWatch “Humans: The Worst Predator on the Planet”. Animal rights need to be created to help defenseless animals have a voice against humans who use them to their advantage.…

Sometimes testing is required by law to meet legal standards, but some of them aren’t needed and put animals in harm for no reason. Even if they are required, animals are still victims of possibly irreversible damage and harm. The Animal Welfare Act specifically excludes rats, mice, birds and most cold-blooded animals, allowing them to be burned, poisoned, isolated, forcibly restrained, addicted to drugs given irreversible brain-damage with free reign (1).…

Many species are going extinct or becoming endangered in the wild (theguardian.com). By having these animals in zoos it is keeping them form going completely extinct. In the United States alone over one hundred million animals are poisoned, crippled, abused, and killed in laboratories each year. There is only one federal law prohibiting the inhumane treatment of laboratory animals and this law is null to ninety-five percent of the animals being tested. Whole-animal testing is antiquated, and progressive scientists have already developed thousands of more accurate laboratory tests that are cheaper, faster, and most importantly, don 't involve animals. The world doesn 't need another eyeliner, concealer, or mascara, especially when it is produced at the expense of innocent animals that are being brutally mistreated. No longer can humanity sit idly and bat blind eyes to this issue, for the experimentation of…

Animal Rights Should animals have rights? If so, should these rights be comparable to those given to humans? Animal Rights are rights believed to be owed to animals in order for them to live full lives, free from suffering. Animals are currently being used, and in some cases abused, in medical research, clothing industries, hunting for sport, food, and population control, and countless other services to humans. As is the case with all ethical issues, there are two defined perspectives and supporters of the current and future treatment given and due to animals.…
