A question that has been becoming more and more common recently and is stumping many is “Is college worth it?” Everyone has a reason to ask this; for some attending college is a simple investment, for others the cost of college their family's life savings, and still others need to decide if they’re ready for the jump. Research shows that attending college is worth it because of higher income in comparison to non-college graduates, and college has many benefits to those that have attended.

As mentioned above, college graduates have a higher pay than just high school graduates. In fact, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, college graduates earn on average 98 percent more than what high school graduates earn. When placed into perspective, and considering debt a college graduate's income is much more of a livable wage than a high school graduate’s income. With a pay gap this big between high school graduates, and 4-year college graduates the answer is clear: yes college is worth it. There are reasons not to attend, but for the majority of the American population the advantages outweigh the disadvantage. It is clear that some degree choices are better than others based off post-college paycheck. Some could say that college is not worth the price since the degree they chose does not make as much money BUT with the right degree choice, and prior knowledge those degrees can be avoided or the low income after college can be balanced by a higher quality of life. When a future student researches ahead of time, they can determine what the best career path and degree choice would be best for them, keeping in mind that only a small population is college not beneficial
