Many unborn babies have been killed and many others emotionally affected by abortion. Except in the case of rape or incest, abortion must become illegal. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy and the death of a fetus. If induced, abortion is equivalent to murder. Abortion can be very harmful to both the mother and, of course, the unborn baby. Abortion is a procedure that kills unborn babies, and usually performed because the mother does not want her child. A pregnancy usually lasts about thirty-nine weeks after the last menstrual cycle (“Abortion”). Abortion ends this pregnancy as early as the first seven weeks of gestation. Over one million abortions were performed in the United States in 2011 (“Abortion in the United States”). There are two types of abortion, spontaneous abortion and induced abortion. Spontaneous abortion is involuntary and has a natural cause. Spontaneous abortion is also called a “miscarriage”. While spontaneous abortion is involuntary, induced abortion is not. Induced abortion is a deliberate action done to prevent a child from being born. There are many ways this procedure can be done.
