Gun Control Guns are powerful weapons that can be used to defend, murder or hunt. Today, gun control is an important issue. There are many citizens who are against gun control because they believe that they have the right to own one to protect themselves, and other people collect them as a hobby. However, thousands of people are dying every year around the USA by guns. What happened in Texas when a college student was killed at the beginning of this year should have affected the law that allowed carrying a handgun in Texas. Gun control should be enforced in all the states, which will help to reduce the crimes that could be caused by a bullet. A lot of crimes happened with the mass shooting. Also, Weapons with people who have a mental illness is dangerous, if they have a gun that will be worse. Obama gun control proposals, which are recovering background check history crime and mental health, will not prevent all the crimes that caused by mass shooting, but it will help to avoid that gun cannot be in the wrong hand. However, some congress was disappointed with Obama plan, and they believe that they should emphasis on mental health; not create a new law. According to Christopher Ingraham from The Washington post in his article “Why gun advocates should love Obama’s new gun rules”, one of the representatives said, "Instead of limiting the rights of law-abiding citizens, we need to improve the way mental illness is treated". Other one said, "We must enforce existing laws to keep guns of out the hands of violent criminals, rather than hampering the rights of law-abiding citizens". It is hard to educate citizens to know how to deal with people who have a mental illness, but it is easier to keep the gun out of their hands. That does not mean ignoring them; it just be on the safe side. In addition, humans’ life is more important than improving treated method.
