With an average of 40% of American households owning guns, children are getting hurt by their parents firearms. In 2012, 259 children have been killed after being accidently shot by a firearm. Because of these statistics, 91% of Americans think there should be minor restrictions on firearms. Also, in late 2012, Adam Lanza opened fire on an Elementary School in Newtown, Ct. This event sparked a debate on Gun Control at the White House. There were proposals made to make the background-check of a gun purchase more “universal”. Since then, there were also efforts to ban high-capacity magazines. A high-capacity magazine is defined as a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, but excludes .22 caliber ammunition.
