Newport Beach-- according to NewsOk by the age of 16 about 1 in 4 high school are employed. Some Americans believe part of their high school experience includes getting a job, others have no other choice but to help their family out.
Some of the most common reasons why high school students decide to work are, to help support their family or need to support themselves, other need spending money and most work to contribute towards their college fund.

Having a job in something that interests you allows you to be more enthusiastic and have aptitude which makes your college application more desirable.
The major point that students should keep in mind is the importance of balance. At Wheaton Academy in Illinois, a high school counselor explains, "We want our students to establish . . . a healthy balance in life . . . and work to maintain it throughout their lives."
Having a job during high school may not be a choice for many, but a necessity. It can be very hard, it make take time to adapt and your academic performance may suffer at first but many important things can be learned like life lessons and it can build character. Something you must always have in mind is balance, you must learn to balance school and work because a student's responsibility is their education. Education will lead you to a better future.
