In the last century cars, phones, and clothes have changed astronomically but they way schools have educated students is exactly the same. The same classroom set up, the same book makers, the same teaching methods. How can the school system be forming the minds of the future while using the ideology of its ancestors? Children sit in strait rows, walk in lines, raise their hands to speak, and are made to sit still in order to learn. This all happens at the age where children begin to like or hate school. They are made to stay indoors for seven to eight hours a day and spend every minute learning and then go home and spend anywhere from four to six hours on homework to improve their retention while keeping a healthy sleep schedule of eight to ten hours a night. On top of all of that is the responsibility of these children to learn how to be come productive members of society. Parents instill their children with responsibility by making them do chores and be accountable for their actions. But when is there time to learn responsibility and the importance of family with school, homework, sleep, eating, hygiene and if they get sick they get light years behind. Einstein said it best when comparing a fish’s ability to climb a tree to that of a child to learn the same way another would. Education should draw out the talents of each student but instead it fills them with so much un-useful knowledge. If school truly wanted to change everyone’s life it would find the talents with in a person and take them to another level. How to you get to the highest level of a industry? You become the best at what you do but school spends precious time telling children getting the A is more important that understand how they fit in to the world and how what they are learning will further them in life. You can’t take a poor man and give him the same education everyone else has and expect him to rise above the competition. You must give him a drive to find what he is best at and never stop getting better at
