Argumentative Essay: Donald Trump As The President Of America

Improved Essays
As beginning a new year, 2018 is the most controversial that the United States has ever been. We are two years into having Donald Trump as the President of America, yet it still causes hate and violence between various groups of people. In this day and age nothing can be said or done without offending a certain group of people. However, now is the time to swallow the negativity towards others and have an open mind. Everyone has entitlement to their own opinions, as they should. The only time that having an opinion is wrong is when actions are made into violence against others. Institutions should let anyone speak on public platforms as long as it does not bring violence to the group of people being spoken to; institutions must keep their students safe, keep the speakers safe, and always give respect towards the speaker even if the topic is negative. …show more content…
At home feeling safe is a given. Think of the other students as the family for this home. Sure, families fight and have different opinions. Nonetheless, love and respect always exist in the recipe for family under any circumstances. Therefore, anyone the institution chooses to speak the same love and respect will be received. If the students disagree with the opinions of the speaker, there is no harm unless they the hate thoughts are put into action. The students then can harm themselves, the speaker, others, or the property of the school. None of which deem acceptable. The role is exactly the same towards the speaker. The institutions have the right to expect a certain amount of respect of their students and of the speaker. If these expectations are not met, the institution has every right to punish the one at fault. However, with everything said under a microscope. All of these rules apply if and only if the institution keeps both students and speakers safe from any sort of violence. The world has enough war as is, no need to create more of it when

Just because the students like what they had to say doesn’t mean they should be convicted for stating their opinions. Though a bit more extreme the Texas vs. Johnson case dealt with a similar issue of distinguishing between threatening and disliked opinions. Johnson was arrested mostly because his actions offended someone. Similarly, these professors and administers are being forced from their jobs for saying…

I chose this article because it shows how arrogant the students can be based on the survey. The student’s feelings against “hate speech” gets in the way, which leads them to make poor decisions. Why should hard core situations be prevented from being discussed on college campuses? The first amendment is at issue because the students believes that the first amendment will protect them under every circumstance. The code of conduct is placed in every education environment because it shows that some rights may be limited.…

I agree with Caleb Yong article on how free speech is important because he explained how lead each person to form the own ideas and opinion and individualize themselves, and although it can lead to hate speeches there is also speeches that benefit for the better. It’s important for people to speak your opinion and ideas without having to have restriction on how important the matter is to you. Every speech has its negative and positive points but it usually the benefits out weigh the negative factor of the speech. I do think that is very important to keep in mind that every action has its…

After looking at both parties positions, I can say I am not surprised by the stances they have taken on the issue represented. For the democrat stances, many of their ideas favoured equality and calling for progress and change on many prominent issues. Such as how Democrats called for "policies and investments in order to keep America's public lands public". On the opposite side of this issue, the Republicans stated that that "our air and waterways are much healthier than they were a few decades ago". This stance from the Republicans shows how their more conservative and traditional views correlate to these stances on the topics.…

If there is one thing I have learned from my time as an undergraduate so far, it is that free speech is no longer about sharing ideas or holding conversations, but rather shouting down one’s opposing side. Disagreement is a natural human behavior, but when expressions become heated and motivated by one’s personal beliefs, they also become unproductive. Universities should be places where ideas are discovered and discussed, not where haphazard claims and quick anger should dominate campus dialogues. It is a lesson all young political leaders should take to hear before their political opinions get the best of…

This should be true. However, it isn't many leaders do look at the color, religion, and nationality. There has been these in the past where if you were different from other you would be treated other or not even noticed. For example, back in WWII Hitler wanted to get rid of all the Jews just because they were Jewish. There are even events where they are napping today.…

I would consider the article “ Donald Trump for President” as the more effective because it uses examples to support its argument why the author is voting for Donald Trump. The author mentions that Clinton will follow the same path of president Obama, and will increase the U.S’s debt. However, Trump will bring corporations, create new jobs, and advocate for lower taxes, and will lead to the prosperity of the county. Also, this article mentions the first and second amendment that could appeal to people who have a strong believe in those amendments, as the author mentions, “ The individual right to bear arms would be a likely casualty of a Clinton presidency.” People will believe that the amendments should not be change.…

Colleges always face a lot of scrutiny when it comes to how they are run. In recent years, the First Amendment has come into play on campuses across the nation. Many articles have been written defending both for and against restrictions, defending the use of trigger warnings in class, and explaining what this controversy is really about. While the colleges themselves have the power to choose what they do, they must consider what experience they want to provide for their students. What is Free Speech?…

Politics are always exciting, however, presidential political debates are arguably the best. Each candidate must persuade the country to vote for him (or her) to become the next Commander-in-Chief. Candidates participate in numerous debates to not only win over their party but the country as a whole. These debates, along with lies and secrets begin early. This leads to an intriguingly long and scrutinous race.…

In the articles “Three Cheers for the Nanny State,” “Ban the Ban!,” and “Soda’s a Problem but…”, all three authors present their arguments with facts, opinions, and counterclaims. However, one article presents itself better than the rest. I believe that the article “Soda’s a Problem, but...” was the most convincing article. Sarah Conly- the author who wrote “Three Cheers for the Nanny State”- argues that the soda restriction is a good idea because people would be stopped from making foolish decisions that they’ll pretty definitely regret.…

As most citizens of America know, Donald Trump is running for president as a possible Republican candidate. According to the polls from RealClear Politics, Trump has a six-point lead against his opposing Republican candidate, Ben Carson. Donald Trump is continuously gaining the support of the Republican Party members. Though, some Americans may think Donald Trump is fit to be president, that is simply not so. Trump becoming president would cause our country serious trouble due to the fact that, he is barely even a Republican, his experience as a chief executive officer will not help him in office, and he cannot keep or maintain the promises he makes in his speeches.…

Battles over who deserves to be an American citizen has always been a prominent debate in American society; this is especially true now. With the rise of “Trumpism,” violent rhetoric has propelled an anti-immigrant demagogue to power. Trump, who has scapegoated immigrants; particularly of Muslim and Mexican descent has labeled them as terrorists and rapists, and has called for a wall along the US, Mexico boarder, as well as calls for a ban on Muslims entering the United States. His rhetoric which has resulted in growing anti-immigrant sentiment is likely to lead to sanctuary cities, which are jurisdiction “that limit their cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)” (Mazorati 1) losing federal funding, for not complying with…

In the article titled, “Kindly Inquisitors: The New Attacks on Free Thought,” Jonathan Rauch concludes that hate speech should not be censored on campus. Rauch believes that students have a right to academic freedom. He believes that students will not feel free to explore or question topics that may be taboo, if they are fearful of reprimand, limiting their ability to learn about the world during a crucial time in their education. First Rauch argues that gaining knowledge is painful and Knowledge cannot be separated from pain, even the most “scientific” criticism can be painful. For example, Physicist Ludwig Boltzmann committed suicide following criticism of his ideas.…

Hungry for Change Why is it that law mandates public school meals have a minimum calorie intake, but not a maximum? This owes itself to the fact that when nutrition standards were established for public schools, it was to solve the problem of undernourishment. The majority of school aged children used to walk to school, played more outside, and were more active in sports. This resulted in children burning more calories than school meals provided.…
