Argumentative Essay: Do Americans Have It Too Easy?

Decent Essays
Do Americans have it too easy? I think that a lot of the countries think that Americans have it super easy compared to them. "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln. That quote shows that not only do we have to worry about the outside world, but also the inside world. In my eyes to be successful in life it is quite hard and takes dedication and sacrifices. The government has placed down tons of rules, regulations, and taxes that make making a living difficult. I think that people that say life in America is easy haven't llived here. We may be the most advanced nation, but times were not easy leading up to our advancements, and they still

Many Americans get successful by deciding to not pay attention to how they get there but on just getting there. All they choose to know is that they need to get successful. For example, I used to go to a cal state, the students there did not care how they obtained a passing grade but for them to obtained it. Most of the time they would cheat, they would ask different students to give them the answers. This one afternoon, in my sociology class this girl ask my friend that if she didn't understand a question if she could give her the answer to it.…

Americans need to take everything they have into perspective and think about what all comes with the title “American”. America is the greatest country on Earth, or at least that is the mindset. Americans enjoy many different privileges that other people in different countries do not have to enjoy. This is very crestfallen in reality. So many people are stripped of their basic human rights, like for instance the people in China are limited as a family to how many children they are allowed to have.…

As a woman, there is a constant pressure from society: be beautiful, respected, and intelligent. Programs such as Miss America—with the winner’s crowning and the focus on the contestants’ intellects over their bodies—was always advertised as the perfect method to achieve societal standards. After all, Miss America prides itself on how it furthers women’s education by offering over $45 million in scholarships, which they claim makes them “the largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women.” In a society that acknowledges a woman’s body before her mind, Miss America projects itself as a beacon of hope for all women across America. However, I began to wonder about the legitimacy of such a program.…

A topic that has been highly politicized around a lightning rod of a name is what to do about Obamacare. To illustrate this point, if we call it the Affordable Care Act, approval rates increase and if we use the name KyNect in Kentucky it increases even more. In a Kaiser Health monthly poll (see Note to Reader comment below) from November, 74% of Americans and half of Republicans want the ACA to continue. But, if you dig deeper, the Republican voters heavily favor almost all features of the ACA except those dealing with the mandates for coverage for the employer and individual.…

Should College Be Free in America? Every year in America, thousands of new high school graduates pack their bags, move to new cities, and sign papers accepting loans they might not be able to pay back. Parents shovel out thousands to colleges, with the risk of their child neglecting the responsibility of study, and dropping their courses. Students who do not qualify for scholarships have to use up time that would allow them to study properly because they need to get part-time jobs in order to just stay in college. In other countries all over the world, tuition for college is free.…

The American Dream is not only one goal, we want to achieve, it’s a variety of goals we 'd like to accomplish, but everyone 's dream differs. People such as immigrants have crossed the United States border; left their homelands, families and all they know to live in a country they know nothing about to reach their goals and dreams.
