Argumentative Essay: Do Aliens Exist?

Decent Essays
Recently, a group of amateur astronomers named, “Planet Hunters”, used publicly available data gathered by NASA's Kepler Telescope to search for other planets like Earth. They soon discovered a bizarre planet that had an unusual flickering pattern, meaning something is happening to it that makes it dim then brighten. The abnormal star was said to be located between the constellations, Cygnus and Lyra and was above the Milky Way. In addition, it was named, “KIC 8462852” soon after. Many astronomers believe that this could result in extraterrestrial activity and could be a sign of “massive alien structures”. It was later said that this information was confirmed and had been sent to SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), who now are on the case of this infrequent planet. SETI ordered more telescopes to study the area and to scan it for radio waves. Scientists are still not sure if what’s happening with the star is a natural occurrence, but the thought of alien activity have not been ruled out just yet. …show more content…
Depending on what the scientists believe in, what’s happening to the star could just be some natural occurrence or extraterrestrial doings. In the past, there had been many reports on UFO’s or alien sightings. If what has been said is true, then this information can prove that aliens do exist and that it can affect the theories of our past. Consequently, it can also mean there is a whole other universe out there that carries life, which would be a huge discovery for NASA and other companies. As their research continues, we’re getting a step closer to knowing the truth behind the bizarre activities KIC 8462852 has been

Bigfoot is a large, hairy, apelike creature resembling a yeti and is supposedly found in northwestern America. Individuals claim to have seen Bigfoot, describing it as a large, roughly 6–9-foot creature covered in black, dark brown, or dark reddish hair. Scientists discount the existence of Bigfoot and consider it to be a combination of folklore, misidentification, and hoax, rather than living animal. However, based on circumstantial evidence one can argue that Bigfoot is real. DNA and footprints have been found in woods in the Pacific Northwest.…

The supergiant star, located near the giraffe’s hind foot, will end its life in a supernova that could leave behind a black hole leaving the giraffe with what will look like an ankle bracelet. It is quite remarkable to think that the universe is alive and constantly evolving and changing.…

Though the program has not produced an abundance of data, data has been produced nonetheless. Project Phoenix observed around 800 nearby stars over billions of frequency channels at high sensitivity. No extraterrestrial signal was detected from any of the stars, but the lack of detection does not mean the experiment was a failure. SETI is not exclusively attempting to prove that extraterrestrial life exists; instead the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence attempts to determine if there is intelligent extraterrestrial…

These are military radar and satellite uplinks. Let’s look at why aliens could detect these signals and what aliens would learn from each. Military radar (and traffic control radar) has several advantages over other types of signals. First, it is put out by massive transmitters to look for threats and aircraft – that’s enough power to actually cross the distance when combined with other signals. Second, these frequencies aren’t competing with RF output created by the solar and Jovian electromagnetic fields.…

There has always been much controversy over your theory of evolution; a theory that has lasted or almost 160 years, with not a single piece of evidence presented that disproves the fundamental validity of that theory. In fact, it is being supported time and time again by fossil records. However, thats not to say your theory is perfect. The point of a theory is not to be perfect. The ideas you have presented, however, are the best and most scientifically grounded ideas we have about the way species evolve and change.…

Have you ever thought about “alien abductions” where there’s the beam of light that draws the person up into the ship, or in Star Wars, the beam that can dock spaceships? That thing you’re thinking of is a tractor beam. Tractor beams are possible, but they are not yet advanced to the extent of Star Wars or alien abductions. The theory is that beam can reel a particle in towards the source. Currently, there are three types of tractor beams, sonic, light, and laser beams.…

As of the 21st century, it is no longer controversial to believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life. While in the 16th century, a belief that life existed beyond Earth and its atmosphere may have led to a public execution (like it did for astronomer, Giordano Bruno), the same belief is held by 54% of Americans today. Given the evidence gathered through advanced space exploration and technology, the scientific community, as well as the general population, is more inclined to believe in extraterrestrial life. However, something that is more debatable, is the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life.…
