A huge benefit of the 3D laser is that it reduces the time it takes to clear a crime scene while still gathering data. It also improves the safety of officers in the field by reconstructing vehicle accidents. It takes the officers less time on the road. All of the evidence collected at a crime scene is digitally stored, meaning it is saved for as long as the investigator needs it and can use it at a later date to continue the investigation. Officers that do not use it can lose any evidence at a scene forever.
