Argumentative Essay: Breast Is Best

I know as a mother there is a lot of pressure out there anymore to breastfeed your baby. There is even a campaign that is called “Breast is best”. While that is fine and dandy there is actually a learned skill to the art of breastfeeding, and the benefits that it provides. As with all parts of life it is not for everyone. I, a mother of four children can attest to this. Unfortunately, I did not breastfeed all of my children, and it wasn’t that I couldn’t it was that I too was uneducated and unaware of the benefits. Once I was educated on the benefits, I did engage and embrace the art of breastfeeding. I have to say not only did it save me a ton of money but the amount of health benefits associated with this is amazing. Not to mention, the bond that you are able to form between mother and baby. In this brochure it informs the soon to be mother on what they need to do to be able to accomplish this. For instance; the health benefits for both mother and child. What to do before the baby gets here; classes that you can take, gathering and forming a support team of people that have successfully breastfeed their children, talking to your doctor, having a written plan and seeing a lactation consultant. It then tells you what to expect once you are in the hospital; inform your L&D nurse that you plan to breastfeed, assuring that they place the baby skin …show more content…
There is nowhere in the article where it addresses resources for the working mother, support groups for the mother who feels defeated. It is a natural and normal process but so many feel that it there is no way they can make it work. They need to know that they can, that there is a way and that yes, it may require some added effort but with that it can be
