Argumentative essay:
Experimenting on animals, with or against? Since many years, animals have always been one of the reasons for the survival of many human beings. They are used for experimental and medical research for finding new drugs and treatments and for the general advancement of health and medicine. There has been a controversy between people about the pros and cons to the practice of animal testing and whether it is helpful or it is just wasting the animal lives and there could be alternatives. First of all, the scientific community and many other people support the use of animals because it helped in the discovery of new drugs and treatments to various diseases and lead to the improvement

Mice and humans are 98% genetically similar while Chimpanzees do share 99% of their DNA with humans. All mammals including humans have similar organs and systems because they all are descending from similar ancestors. There is also no any alternative that can be used to test on a living organism except animals. If sometimes tissue cultures or computer models are used, blindness and high blood pressure are some of the conditions were these techniques won’t be accurate and reliable. Organs such as brain are very difficult to be simulate even with the use of supercomputers. From this point of view, scientists should be provided with detailed information and so they must be allowed to use animal as experimenting models (Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial …show more content…
During animal testing, many animals are killed after experimenting on them and the others remain alive with injuries and in captivity. 95% of the animals tested are not protected by Animal Welfare Act including mice, fish and birds and they are all suffering abuse and mistreatment. Even with the protection provided by the Animal Welfare Act, some horrific cases of animal abuse in the laboratories wasn’t prevented. Some people also find it immoral to test and experiment on animals for the human benefit saying that animals have feelings and do suffer like humans which makes it unfair to experiment on them what cannot be experimented on humans only because they do not have the ability to express their feelings. However, animal rights supporters only oppose scientists but not the farmers who kill animals daily for food but call the scientists cruel for killing animals for the advancement of medical field although, 99% of animals killed are by farmers while only 1% are by scientists (Ian, Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial Testing?). The use of animals in experimental research will always remain a controversial issue and the people will always divide into two opinions either with for the great benefit in the medical field that comes from the animal testing or against for the ethical problems and the animal rights. While animals are getting tested from the scientists the animals are getting tortured and their skin gets irritated by the products that makes animals die from the despair they get put through. Companies should change the way they are going to test out their products to not put animals into an everyday life situation of getting tortured. Even though, there is proof that the United States or any other country does not require scientists or any other type of company to test on animals. Every animal has rights just as a human being's do which that applies to everyone is why Europe has stopped testing on animals since 2009 from being tested by cosmetics, if a person kills an animal for example buffalo, deer, goat, etc... without some type of permission that person can go to prison or get a fine for…

It is cruel and unethical for the animals to have their needs for survival taken away only for a little medical research. Many of these animals have their water and food taken away and are kept in small cages. It is unfair to keep them cooped up in tiny pens. Many animals suffer so many severe injuries that they have no choice but to be put down. It is unfair to kill innocent animals for the testing of products.…

The food industry kills millions of pigs, cows, chickens, etc. The farm animal topic has also been used to argue that if it is okay to kill animals for food, then it should be okay to test on animals since they both have benefits that help humans (Rowan). Even though scientists are the ones performing tests on animals, they have a similar view on animal testing as the general public, and that happens to be somewhat ambivalent. Some scientists describe feeling guilt after performing tests on animals, not only immediately after, but sometimes for years, which is why the scientific community does not accept animal testing universally as many seem to think…

Anyone that has ever been vaccinated against measles, polio, chicken pox, or any other disease, then you have directly benefited from animal research. Animal research has been used for millennia by scientists and doctors to understand diseases that affect humans and to find treatments. Animals such as monkeys, dogs, and rabbits, have been popular in medical testing due to the wide array of genetic similarities between them and humans. Vaccines developed on animals have benefited humans and even other animals. People have begun to see animal testing as inhumane and unnecessary, but scientists continue to back up animal research with the positive results it has yielded.…

There are many reasons that people believe animal testing is a necessity in modern research. Animal’s biology is very similar to humans, which is why we can use animals for human research. Animals are fundamental to biological and medical research. By researching and experimenting on them, we can learn more about different tissues and organs and how to maintain their health. Animal models help develop new treatments for diseases.…

Lab animal enthusiasts are for the most part, not in favor of hurting animals intentionally but they think that there are major human health benefits but the truth is less than 2% of human illnesses (1.16%) are ever seen in animals. In essence, animal testing is wasted time and wasted lives. If this logic isn 't enough to persuade animal testing enthusiasts then think of it this way, most of the time theses animals are born to be brought up in a lab, and intentionally being abused because “ they have nothing else to live for” then why don 't we test cosmetics on humans that have nothing else to live for such as people sentenced to life in prison for example. In our minds that seems totally unethical but it 's exactly what we are doing to puppies, mice, cats, monkeys and others. This whole situation reminds me of the book “Unwind” by Neal Shustermen.…

It is proven that “Nine out of ten drugs that appear promising in animal studies go on to fail in human clinical trials” (American Anti-Vivisection Society). Likewise, the results of experiments performed on research animals can be easily manipulated. Animals that are being tested on are in unnatural environments, causing distress, so the results are not accurate. Additionally, throughout all of the experiments they are restrained, so they cannot react naturally. For example, during the Draize test the rabbits are placed in restraining stocks and a substance is placed into one of their eyes.…

The main reason why we animal test is for cosmetic research, not medical research, which is the only type that can be half accepted. Medical research for humans on animals means they still do not get the correct results we need because of the two different reactions of chemicals in two different animals. Popular brands hide the way they animal test because they know that when people find out their product will not sell as well. Global warming is also a huge and rising problem on our earth, and by cutting out cosmetic research on animals, it will mean a few hundred less factories running around the world and releasing fumes into the atmosphere. This will mean a lot of jobs lost, but there are plenty more jobs in the world and it will only benefit our world.…

Along with being inaccurate animal testing kills animals and is proven unreliable. In 2010, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported that 97,123 animals suffered pain during experiments and are not given any anesthesia for pain relief. These tests included 1,395 primates, 5,996 rabbits, 33,652 guinea pigs, and 48,015 hamsters (Animal Testing Pro & Con.) Other testing methods have proven to be Oliveira 4 more humane, faster, cheaper, and more relevant to humans (Animal Testing 101.) Animals suffer extreme frustration, loneliness, and long to be free.…
