Essay On Summer School

“Do you want to go to summer school?” My dad asked me during our conversation about getting ahead in high school. When he first asked this, I thought he was joking. I thought to myself, “who in their right mind would go to school in the summer? And I’m doing well in school so why should I go?” Later he explained that the negative connotation attached to summer school is false, and that many students utilize summer school to get ahead of the game. Considering that I was in eighth grade and had just finished Algebra I, this seemed like a good idea. The plan was to take Geometry G/T over the summer and then jump right into Algebra II G/T my freshman year of high school. The idea was simple and seemed easy, however, summer school had a lot more in store for me. Summer school is usually five hours a day, five times a week. So, when we would learn material, we only had five hours to learn it and would be quizzed the very next day. Digesting all the material that was thrown at me became harder and harder as time passed. I would start to lose focus; I became super stressed after class because I didn’t feel comfortable with the material taught. I would worry about my grade dropping below an A to the point where I would have panic attacks.
