Weeks passed by and the comments began to affect her a little more and she started to distance herself away from that crowd. Brandon’s friends would make fun of Natalia for being so young and most of the things Brandon and his friends could do, Natalia could not do. Natalia eventually took a stand during lunch and told Brandon’s friends how mean they were being and how much their comments were affecting her. When she took a stand, she did not realize how many people actually heard her until all she heard was crickets. She looked down at Brandon and he had put his hand over his mouth to stop himself from laughing, so she would not see, but she noticed and dropped to her knees. Natalia began yelling, “Stop! Stop! She sat down with him and Mr. O’Neil began to ask questions to get to know Natalia and eventually get to the point and figure out what is going on. After 12 minutes of telling the counselor little details about herself, O’Neil asked her, “Natalia, why are you here to see me today? Is everything okay?”. Natalia began to play with her hands that began to sweat and she started getting a little shaky, but she could not seem to get the right words out to describe everything she was going through. Mr. O’Neil tried asking questions like, “Is everything okay at home?”, “Are you doing well in your classes?”, and assuming that one of the questions he asked her triggered some emotional response, Natalia began to cry and say that she could not take it anymore. Natalia admitted that her mom was a drug user and she was constantly snorting cocaine around her and would sometimes ask if she want to snort some with her and that she would not tell daddy about it. Natalia was too young to fully understand why her mom was doing drugs and why her mom would hit her if Natalia did not follow her moms orders. Her mom always had friends over who would bring
