Why We Should Legalize Marijuana

Release the Green Marijuana is an herb mistaken for a drug and is looked upon as dangerous, when in fact it is anything but dangerous. Because of people’s ignorance and lack of knowledge within marijuana, it has become illegal for all the wrong reasons and should greatly be reconsidered for legalization. There is so much wrong being said about marijuana. However, legalizing marijuana would benefit the country in many ways, such as; taxing marijuana, healing sickness, and the reasoning is not legitimate. Marijuana is too expensive for the justice system, it should definitely be taxed to support beneficial government programs. The government spends billions of dollars every year to chase peaceful people who like to get high. Law enforcement officers have more important responsibilities than arresting more than 800,000 individuals a year because of their personal problems. There are currently no good reasons. People should be able to live their lives the way they want and make choices for themselves. People are being classified as criminals for smoking a natural plant that grows from the ground. The government is punishing people who have not hurt anyone. We cannot succeed in stopping people who are going to do what they want, regardless of every effort to stop one. Prohibitions against marijuana hurts the less fortunate, a whole lot more than the fortunate. Ron Paul said “The most basic principle to being a free American is the notion that we as an individual are responsible for our own lives and decisions. People say marijuana ruins lives but it doesn’t. People committing suicide; that is ruining their lives, people kill people and end up in prison that is ruining their life. Smoking a plant does not ruin one’s life. There is no legitimate reason for the government to keep holding back from legalizing
