When love becomes a scientific concept
Far too often, people regard love as longing, a kind of desire for more; a strong eagerness from others. As Barbara said in words, “Longing. You know the feeling. It’s that ache of sensing that something vital is missing from your life; a deep thirst for more. More meaning, more connection, more energy--more something”(FREDRICKSON 106).The similarity between love and longing is misunderstood due to misconception of love and longing. “Love’s biology”, a scientific concept from organ to chemical, then conveying to the whole body, and love is “resonance”, an empathy involved in conversation, dialogue, or embrace, etc(FREDRICKSON 109). Love is connected to hormones to control your fear about communications and increase your social skills. In “love 2.0”, Barbara introduces a chemical called “oxytocin”. Oxytocin functions as a significant role in social connection especially in the different sex relationships. Researches show that you trade to more concern about some tiny gestures, like a subtle smile, under the influence of oxytocin. They often shape their feelings in some details intended to make friends with you or develop your relations into another level. Within those inadvertent attentions to others, you are in a better view to observe others’ attractions and beauties. As Barbara claimed, “the parts that tune in positive social opportunities are amplified”(FREDRICKSON 116). Another study about infants and their parents shows that they experience similar positive emotions during cooperation. When parents have some eyes connection with the little baby, the baby will smile back. Parents track those tiny changes in baby’s face and emit positive smiles or some facial emotions.
