Has your curiosity taken over your lifestyle? Sadly enough for the new generation the answers to all those questions is yes. Unfortunately, we have no idea what life was like before the popular use and common availability of the Internet. Most teenagers use the Internet as a gateway to escape from reality; they post their emotions on social media, feeling the need to update statuses every few minutes. Why do children feel the need to be so Internet dependent? According to a recent study children use the internet since they believe that it will help them get over what they are getting anxiety from. Many things could cause this; if a child doesn’t receive the right amount of attention at home they become needy and the Internet is an easy way to talk to strangers who can classify as your friends. 1 In 3 teenagers are bullied at least once in their lives, depending on their dress sense, appearance, race, ethnicity or religion. A study revealed, excessive Internet use might cause parts of a teenager’s brain to waste away causing them to become less productive in activities such as mental math. It can be seen from above that the increased use of the Internet leads to an unhealthy lifestyle. As a result of this; I think it is vital for the primary sector in education to refrain from introducing the use of the Internet to children and refrain from using it for methods of education. Along with this I believe it is only through the influence of adults that the younger generation will learn and follow, therefore I believe everyone needs to stop consuming their lives with the Internet. Next time you sit in the car, do not reach for your mobile, instead listen to the radio. Next time you are with your friends, do not have your mobile in your hand, but interact with them. Next time you are at the dinner table, do not have your mobile or your iPad or laptop with you, instead enjoy your food and listen to everyone talking at the table.
