The Negative Effects Of Hook-Up

When you think of the American Dream, you probably think of a big house, a couple of kids, nice vehicles and a loving partner waiting for you at home, right? One of the biggest things standing in the way of our generation living that dream is the way hooking-up has taken place of dating and the effects it has on building a foundation for a strong and healthy relationship. Hooking up has taken our generation by storm and can be detrimental to a later relationship. Sure, hooking up seems like a lot less work than trying to build a foundation for a healthy and strong relationship, besides that what makes a “hook up” appear to be more appealing than a relationship? It seems like guys like to hook up more than date because it makes them feel more dominant and they often receive praise from their peers. Not only does this trend create negative issues later, but a random hook-up puts you at risk for contracting STD’s and numerous infections without protection. When a person allows hook-ups to take over dating, it adds to the number of sexual partners you have encountered. Sometimes it isn’t an issue for people, but often, someone who has been with multiple partners seems less appealing to others in a dating setting. It can create a bad reputation for you and make others think you’re only after sex. After creating this reputation for yourself, this can drive potential partners away from accepting your offer to go on a date. Having this kind of reputation can also cause issues later in life that can be very difficult for a potential partner to look past. When someone feels like you're only after a hook-up it can make them a lot less inclined to give you a chance. This means that all those years of hooking up could cost you a chance with the person that you were really interested
