With every given topic in every aspect of life, there are two sides: for and against. There is always a congregation of those who support the said topic, accompanied alternatively by those who hold opposing views. When addressed with the topic of the safety of football, many will argue that the game is safe because it is a very popular mass cultural pastime among many traditional American families. In my opinion, football is among some of the most dangerous sports that exist. The dangers of football include, but are definitely not limited to, unnecessary roughness, both on and off the field, numerous accounts of injuries, some being life-threatening, and various life long effects on the players. Engaging in the act of playing football poses many risks, one of them being unnecessary roughness in both the atmosphere of the game itself and in daily life. Recorded incidents include overly aggressive tackling, elbowing, tripping, punching, and many more. Overly aggressive tackling is to be expected in a football game of any kind, whether it be in a professional stadium or in the backyard of a family member during a family cookout. Each team wants to win just as much as the other, and when the fear of loss is implemented, winning becomes a goal that requires drastic …show more content…
I can only hope to open his/her mind to all of the possible arguments on the topic by presenting them in a cordial manner. The dangers of football are clearly evident from the injuries and deaths to the psychological effects and the lasting medical complications. So, to conclude, it would seem as if the supporters of football are willing to ignore the various risks of an American obsession, which would mean justifying violence and repeated life-threatening injuries, just to keep themselves happy and the cultural thrill of the games of football
